The Human Capital Management (HCM) Workday Training Pathway is intended to support employees with HCM-related responsibilities. To enroll in this Pathway on Workday Learning:
- Navigate to the Human Capital Management (HCM) Training Pathway program.
- Select Enroll.
Note: Depending on roles and responsibilities, the following supplemental training pathways may also be required or recommended for HCM personnel:
- Hiring (HCM) – guidance on several commonly used business processes, tasks, and actions related to hiring in Workday.
- Compensation – information about requesting both one-time payments and changes to a worker’s compensation.
- Talent and Performance – explains how to initiate a performance review, initiate a performance improvement plan, and initiate a disciplinary action.
Materials in the HCM Training Pathway include the following Computer-Based Training (CBT) video series:
- HR Fundamentals – outlines hiring, including for contracts, and position update processes in Workday.
- Termination – overview on Termination, learn how to process a resignation for an employee, understand how disciplinary actions can lead to termination, how to end a job for an employee with multiple jobs, and how to terminate an employee.
The training pathway program also includes step-by-step instructions of several commonly used processes via the following job aids:
- I-9 Management
Explains the process of completing Sections 2 and 3 of the I-9 form, as well as amending I-9 forms; performing internal audits; and viewing hires with incomplete paperwork.
- Service Dates Change
Explains the process of editing a worker’s Service Dates.
- Manage Jobs
Explains the process of managing jobs in Workday (Add Job, End Job, Switch Primary Job).
- Change Jobs
Explains how the HR Partner and HCM Action Initiator can initiate a Change Job task for faculty planning a renewal or are transferring to a different USM institution and propose a compensation change. This job aid also covers how to covert C2 (non-regular fixed term) workers to regular workers.
- Manage Positions (Create and Edit)
Explains the process for creating and editing positions, as well as how to edit position restrictions.
- Assign Costing Allocations
Explains how HCM Action Initiators, HR Administrators, Central Office Payroll Costing Specialists, Sponsored Program Managers, and Department Payroll Costing Specialists can perform an ad hoc costing allocation change in Workday for Contractual and PIN Workers.
