Workday Training Pathways: Adaptive Planning

The Adaptive Planning Workday Training Pathway is intended to support employees by providing an overview of several processes, tasks, and actions related to Adaptive Planning. To enroll in this Pathway on Workday Learning:

  1. Navigate to the Adaptive Planning Training Pathway program.
  2. Select Enroll. 

Note: All prior completion of lessons and courses count toward requirements for completing this program, but you may re-access all completed training as desired.

Materials in this training pathway include step-by-step instructions of several commonly used processes via the following job aids:

  • Adaptive Planning: Navigation and Icons
    Explains how to navigate Adaptive Planning and the names and definitions of the icons in Adaptive Planning for the Central Budget team
  • Adaptive Planning: Report Navigation
    Explains how to navigate Adaptive Planning reporting for the central budget team. Reports can be used to review budgets, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
  • Adaptive Planning: Personnel Planning – New Positions
    Explains how the Central Budget team can do Compensation Planning in Adaptive Planning for new positions that are anticipated and/or being requested as part of budget planning for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Adaptive Planning: Personnel Planning – Pooled Positions
    Explains Compensation Planning in Adaptive Planning for pooled positions for the Central Budget team. This is for planning at a pooled level rather than at the individual level. This includes student positions, overloads and other compensations not budgeted in per person dollars. This is entering direct personnel costs.
  • Adaptive Planning: Personnel Planning – PIN Positions
    Explains Compensation Planning in Adaptive Planning for the Central Budget team. Compensation Planning model provides users with tools that facilitate updates for the compensation budget and forecasting for PIN positions.

    Explains Compensation Planning in Adaptive Planning for the Central Budget Team. Compensation Planning model provides users with tools that facilitate updates for the compensation budget and forecasting for Contractual Positions.
  • Adaptive Planning: New Capital Assets
    Explains how to request new capital assets for budget planning for the central budget team. When a request for a new capital asset is needed, the information is collected from users and added to the New Capital Assets Sheet in Adaptive Planning.

    Explains how Controllers can review existing assets and change the date disposed.
  • Adaptive Planning: Direct Entry Revenues
    Explains how to forecast revenues in Adaptive Planning using previous fiscal year and current fiscal year actuals to date. This is for the Central Budget team.
  • Adaptive Planning: Direct Entry Non-Personnel Expenses
    Explains how to forecast expenditures, i.e., non-personnel expenses, in Adaptive Planning using previous fiscal year and current fiscal year actuals to date. This is for the central budget team.
