The Faculty Workday Training Pathway is intended to provide guidance on tasks and actions commonly used by members of the Faculty. To enroll in this Pathway on Workday Learning:
- Navigate to the Faculty Training Pathway program.
- Select Enroll.
Note: All prior completion of lessons and courses count toward requirements for completing this program, but you may re-access all completed training as desired.
Materials in this training pathway include the following Computer-Based Training (CBT) video series:
- Workday Basics 101 – In this course, employees will receive an overview on Workday, understand Workday fundamental features, such as search, My Tasks, notifications, your Worker Profile, and more. This is the first course that employees will take to learn how to navigate Workday.
- Absence and Time Off Management – Explains how to request absence, correct Absence Requests, request Leaves of Absence, request Return from Leaves of Absence, View Absence Balances, and view your Absence Calendar.
- (12-month faculty only) Enter, View, and Submit Time – Describes the process for Exempt and Non-Exempt and Faculty employees to enter worked time in Workday; how to view existing time entries; submit timesheets at the end of the pay period; and request overtime for Non-Exempt workers.
- Reports and Dashboards – Learn how to effectively use dashboards and reports within Workday. This includes understanding how to drill into data for further analysis, as well as mastering the skills to sort and filter data and execute various reports. Participants will also be introduced to the different components that make up dashboards in Workday.
The training pathway program also includes step-by-step instructions of several commonly used processes via the following job aids:
- Getting Started in Workday
Explains how employees can navigate frequently used features in Workday.
- (12-month faculty only) Enter, View, and Submit Time
Describes the process for entering, viewing, and submitting your worked time, including:
- Accessing the Time App
- Enter Time as an Hourly (Non-Exempt) Employee
- Request Overtime (via the Time Requests Task)
- Enter Time as a Salaried (Exempt) Employee
- Using Quick Add to Enter Multiple Days at a Time
- Submitting Time for Approval
- Reporting in Workday
Explains how employees can run and use reports in Workday.
- About RPT000 All Reports
Provides guidance on how to use RPT000 All Reports to view all available reports in MD Connect and RPT000 Report Library (All Standard and Custom Reports I can Run) to view the reports that are available to a user based on their Security Role assignments.
- Tenure Clock Extension Request
Explains how faculty can request an extension to their tenure-track or permanent status track academic appointment probationary end date in Workday.
Supplemental Training Pathways
The following supplemental Training Pathways are also recommended to all members of the faculty:
- Travel Reimbursements – provides guidance on how to submit requests for travel funding (via Spend Authorizations) and how to be reimbursed for expenses accrued while traveling on behalf of the institution (via Expense Reports).
