Faculty Training Plan and Resources
Workday went live for both Human Capital Management (HCM) and Finance (FIN) in July 2024. During the transition cutover, we MD Connect developed a comprehensive faculty training plan. This plan included key dates for the launch of supplemental training and the availability of learning labs. The transition to Workday aims to improve various processes, providing faculty with efficient tools for self-service tasks and managing their responsibilities related to HCM and FIN.
Key Dates for Faculty Supplemental Workday Training
- Faculty Supplemental Learning Labs: August 26 to September 27, 2024
- Faculty Workday Instructor Led Trainings: August 26 to September 13, 2024
Faculty Training and Support
Transitioning to Workday can be challenging but ample resources and support are available. All training materials are available in Workday.
Training materials and support:
- Job aids and computer based training video demonstrations focus on key steps for processes commonly completed by Faculty in Workday.
- Instructor Led Trainings are formal training sessions and will train you on how to use Workday, including the basics like navigation, how to request time off, entering spend authorizations for travel pre-approval and expense reports, and more.
- Learning Labs are scheduled for you to come and ask questions to Workday experts about how to perform processes in Workday, including how to update personal information, run reports, use dashboards, learn how to manage My Tasks, request time off, enter time (12-month faculty only), hiring, create requisitions, and submit expense reports. Learning labs may also include demos on processes upon request. Learning labs are not formal training sessions.
- Workday support is available through your university’s helpdesk, and through the Maryland Connect consortium, depending on the issue identified. There is a process in place to identify the type of issue reported and escalate it to experts when needed. Please visit our program website and review our FAQs on how to get help.
