Campuses - Requesting Workday Announcements

Overview

This article describes a process for campuses to request a new Workday Announcement to appear in certain dashboards/pages of Workday for their campus.

Campus Procedure

The following process should be followed if a campus wishes to post a Workday Announcement to a specific group of people or all users at their respective campus, or if there is a need to inform all users in the tenant:

  1. Campus submits a MD Connect ticket using the  "Request General Workday Support" form when they wish to post a new WD announcement in certain parts of Workday.  Please allow 1-2 business days for for these requests so that they can be configured/tested prior to the start date of the announcement, for quality control purposes:
  2. Campus must include the following information:
    1. Exact announcement text/verbiage - include a title and the announcement text.
    2. Identify whom the intended audience/employee group/role/campus is that needs to see the announcement
    3. Desired start date for announcement to appear
    4. Desired end date for announcement to be removed
    5. Desired dashboard name or location in Workday for announcement to appear
    6. A preview image thumbnail with 4:3 aspect ratio to include with the announcement- this makes the announcement more visible
      • Allowed image file types are JPEG and PNG (without transparency).
      • Images must be 300KB or smaller.
      • Optional: Include a separate page banner image for the top of the Announcement - Workday suggests dimensions 600 x 338 pixel for modal pages.  Only one image/banner can be posted within a native announcement.  If more images are needed, the announcement can contain an external link to point to page or document with additional graphics.
      • See Workday community for more image details and size limits: https://doc.workday.com/admin-guide/en-us/manage-workday/tenant-configuration/navigation/tar1438106772604.html
  3. (Optional) Campus should Include any external links/details/attachments to point users to when the user clicks on the announcement
  4. MD Connect will review and confirm whether the message can be configured for the intended audience.  A technician will coordinate with the campus requester to post the announcement, confirm it appears correctly in a lower tenant, and then configure the message in production for the dates requested.
